Phil Torres is a tropical biologist, photographer, and television host based in New York City.

He has helped discover more than 40 species entirely new to science and has reported stories from as far away as the bottom of the ocean (inside a submarine) and within the Arctic Circle.

He’s reported stories from as far away as the swamps of Alabama and Tajikistan’s Pamir Plateau. You can find his work in National Geographic, Scientific American, BBC Earth, The New York Times, Los Angeles Magazine, Teen Vogue, and BioGraphic.
